  I endured the most trying time in my life three years ago when you both performed my cancer surgery. I would like to thank you both for being so patient with me during that time, I was a little overwhelmed and very angry. You both made me feel very cared for and genuinely concerned for my well being. Not only was I dealing with a diagnosis of a cancer recurrence I had to deal with the fact that for 6 years I was being treated by an incompetent doctor that I had respected and trusted all that time.

  Dr. Spies, I want to thank you for giving me the confidence to want to live my life!! With all the gadgets and scars that my body had to endure I am not sure I would have been able to focus on recovering, if in the back of my mind I didn’t know that no matter what was wrong, you would fix it!!

  I have to admit, before meeting you I really didn’t have much respect for plastic surgeons. I always thought of a plastic Surgeon as a “Barbie doll maker”. You, Dr. Spies, are a problem solver, confidence builder and in my case a miracle worker!! Dr. Spies you are very gifted with your talents and have given me the confidence to live my life as though none o this nightmare happened!! Life to me wasn’t worth living if I was always going to be treated differently than I was before or stared at all the time or even pittied, I only wanted to live normally and I do!!! I don’t believe anyone really notices the scars or my “goofy Neck”! I think you are awesome not only as a doctor but as friend!! • I have been a patient of Dr. Spies for more than two years now. I learned of him by word-of-mouth, from a surgical nurse and others whom he did work on. I have seen with my own eyes, how some plastic surgery went bad, and swear that I would never have plastic surgery! Then, I met Dr Spies. Step-by-step, he has restored my eyes, brow, face, neck and tummy. Now, I look absolutely natural and half my age!

  This letter comes to you long overdue and with many heartfelt thanks. I have debated for the past year on whether or not I should bother sending this letter to you. I didn’t know if you would still remember me or would want to know how a previous patient is doing. However, I thought it was important for you to know what a wonderful thing you did as a physician and continue to do. Not every patient says ‘thank you’ but this one will forever.

  I don’t know where else to begin other than ‘thank you’. It is because of your kind heart and the dedication you show your patients that I have been able to obtain a life that I never knew could exist for me. Things that may seem so trivial and nonchalant to the average sized individual were often difficult or untouchable to me due to the large amount of excess skin that you removed. Your talented skills and thoughtfulness helped improve me to what I am today. For this I will be forever grateful.

  Prior to having the excess skin removed as a result of my gastric bypass in 2002, I still let the weight from the undesirable and uncomfortable excess skin hide me from the rest of the world. Even though I lost the weight, I still felt like a prisoner in a frumpy and oddly uncomfortable body.

  However, Dr. Spies, you were able to change all of that for me. I was able to start enjoying life with my husband, family and friends. Most of all, I no longer watched my life pass before me. I now enjoy going to the beach as often as possible. I am finally beyond the fat and skin that left me feeling uncomfortable and ugly. Thank you for helping release the courageous smile inside that I didn’t know could exist.

  I am writing this letter about who I consider the most wonderful plastic surgeon and human being alive. His name is Dr. Robert Spies and I can truly say this man saved my life.

  I met Dr. Spies in what was and still somewhat remains the most horrific time of my life. I had a previous breast implant surgery/breast lift a few months previous to our meeting. The ‘surgeon’ who butchered me had left me high and dry and did not take any responsibility for his part in the destruction he had done to my body. I consequently lost my areolas and nipples and had horrific scarring as a result. My feeling of being a whole woman was forever gone and I was beyond traumatized.

  This is when the man who saved my life entered. Dr. Robert Spies came into my life when I thought there was no hope and he gave me the one thing no one could. HOPE! He has since performed several reconstructive surgeries on my breasts and although I still remain without my areolas and nipples, he has constructed my breasts to be as womanly and whole as possible. I have also had a tummy tuck and liposuction a few years later and he transformed not only my body but my spirit.

  I feel the word has yet to be created to properly thank Dr. Spies for what he has done. Maybe it will never be but I can say this with honesty and my entire heart. I could not be more appreciative and grateful to any other human being on the face of the earth as to what I owe Dr. Spies. He is truly one of a kind and his work is without exception. My only regret is that I did not know him sooner to have performed my original surgery.

  Lastly, the staff Dr. Spies has carefully surrounded himself with have become my family, my sisters if you will. They are always compassionate, offer a shoulder to cry on and always share my victory with my successful surgeries that have been done per Dr. Spies.   Back in 1971 I had breast implants that over the years had become severely encapsulated. They became hard as rocks. I didn’t know who to go to for a revision. As I searched through the hundreds of “Plastic Surgeons” in the Tucson-Phoenix area, I found one that I and my Husband felt very comfortable with. It wasn’t just the Doctor though, we felt a huge difference in the staff’s welcome to Dr. Spies’s office. From the minute we walked in, it was sincere friendliness and a desire to make us feel comfortable there. They all took the time to assist us with whatever our questions were.

  Dr. Spies, himself is a most professional, kind and a very confident, not arrogant Dr. He made sure that I understood what to expect. He made sure that he understood what I wanted as well. He explained all the steps that would take place and helped me pick a size I would feel comfortable with.

  The staff at the “Surgery Center” were caring, helpful and efficient. They each came into my room and explained what would be happening each step of the way. I wasn’t left hanging around wondering what’s next.
