Wrinkle Reduction with AFT Fat Transfer
Posted September 28, 2012 in HomeAlthough you may not think so, sometimes fat is a good thing. The fatty tissues throughout your body can serve as an excellent dermal filler. For those who are looking to decrease the appearance of their deep wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet, the AFT (Autologous Fat Transfer) technique may be a great option. In addition to filling in facial lines and wrinkles, the fat transfer procedure can also create definition in hollowed areas of the face or chin and improve scarring.
The AFT method, which is offered at my Scottsdale plastic surgery practice, allows the opportunity to use a natural, non-allergenic substance to enhance your facial appearance. The procedure is quick and simple, typically taking no more than 30 minutes to complete. Results usually range from three to five years, although there is the potential for some patients that the results stay permanent. The best part about AFT is that – because this technique involves the use of your own natural tissue versus a chemical-based material – there is little to no risk of side effects or allergic reactions.
During this procedure, the treatment area is numbed with a topical or local anesthetic, so that the patient feels little to no pain yet is conscious throughout the process. An overview of the process: The fat is removed from an area of the body that has holds excess fatty tissue (i.e., the thigh, abdomen, buttocks), and then harvested and prepared for injection. A small syringe containing your fat tissue will be injected into the area in which you desire treatment, such as your wrinkles, scars, etc.
For optimal results, patients may require more than one treatment session. Please contact my office today to schedule a consultation and learn more about the benefits of AFT, and how it can help you achieve a more youthful look. At this time, I would be happy to explore your options with facial injectable treatment.
