Which Breast Implant Shape Will Help Me Achieve the Best Look?
Posted May 3, 2013 in Breast Augmentation, Breast Implants, Mommy Makeover CategoryUndergoing a breast augmentation procedure can be a very rewarding experience. After deciding what type of breast implant is most suited for you, the shape of your implants should be considered as well.
There are two main shapes for implants: round and teardrop. Factors such as body type, amount of breast tissue, and the placement of the implant will determine what implant shape is best suited for you.
Round Implants
These are the most common shape of implants used. Round implants are circular and resemble a condensed sphere. Typically, round implants grant patients with a fuller appearance that provides more cleavage. Round implants are recommended for women who have also previously had round breast implants and wish to replace them, as the pocket that was originally created with the primary breast implants will have already adapted to accommodate a round implant.
Teardrop Implants
This implant has a sloped shape that is fuller towards the bottom than the top. Some patients desire teardrop implants because they look more natural and can possibly project the breasts more forward than round implants. This type is most often used for breast reconstruction patients to achieve an appearance similar to their original breasts.
Both types of implants have certain factors that can benefit each patient. Round implants are popular because they provide more volume without the risk of the implant rotating and causing a misshapen look. Teardrop implants project the breasts more forward while adding volume.
