Ultherapy®
Posted July 30, 2018 in UltherapyDo you want the benefits of a facelift without the surgery? Or are you looking to extend the effects of a cosmetic surgical procedure that you’ve already had performed? As a nonsurgical alternative to a traditional facelift, Ultherapy® is a revolutionary procedure that can be the difference you’re looking for. Ultherapy® is a facial rejuvenation procedure designed to revive loose, sagging skin on the brow, chin, and neck. This noninvasive, FDA-approved procedure lifts and tightens loose skin to improve fine lines and wrinkles on the face and chest.
How Does It Work?
Ultherapy® uses ultrasound energy to heat the tissue in a targeted area under the surface of the skin. This treatment stimulates a person’s natural collagen production to tighten and lift the tissue in the treated areas. Essentially, Ultherapy® revives an individual’s own collagen and elastin. Additionally, when more tightening is needed in specific areas, the Ultherapy® device allows the doctor to target multiple levels of tissue. The new collagen will fill up the targeted areas around the skin tissue, and the skin will appear firmer than before with a more youthful, healthy appearance.
How Long Is Recovery?
There is virtually no downtime associated with Ultherapy® treatment. Most patients return to their daily activities immediately after their procedure. Some patients may experience redness and minor discomfort, depending on the targeted tissue depth during the procedure, but this should not keep a patient from returning to normal activities. Any minor discomfort or pain following the treatment can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.
How Long Do Results Last?
Ultherapy® stimulates a person’s natural collagen production. Therefore, it takes time for the body to produce collagen naturally. While some patients may start to see results after one week, more impressive results take about three to four months to become visible. Also, results will vary depending on the patient’s ability to create collagen. Once results become noticeable, they will last from two to five years. Patients who are under 45 years old, take daily care of their skin, decrease or avoid sun exposure, refrain from smoking, and have good genetics may see results that last closer to five years.
