How to Find the Right Procedure for Your Trouble Zone
Posted November 11, 2013 in UncategorizedWrinkles and sagging skin on the face are an inevitable part of the aging process. Plastic surgery offers several methods that enable men and women to reduce the signs of aging and add a rejuvenating appearance to their face. However, with the many options that are available, it may be difficult for patients to decide which is best for them. To ensure that you choose the right facial rejuvenation procedure for your “trouble zone,” here are some of the facial rejuvenation procedures and treatments we offer at my Scottsdale practice.
Surgical Procedures
Facelift
This is a surgical procedure to reduce the visible signs of aging including sagging of the cheeks, deep creases near the mouth, lax muscles of the neck and jowls. Loose skin is redraped and removed after fat is repositioned to its original area and deep layers of the face and neck muscles are tightened. Incisions are all hidden within the hair and along natural creases in front of the ears.
Brow Lift
Deep lines between the eyebrows, creases across the forehead and a sagging brow are improved by a brow lift. As a result, the eyebrows achieve a more youthful position and patients no longer have to worry about that “angry” or “tired” appearance. Incisions are all placed behind the hairline and never visible.
Eyelid Lift
This operation performed on upper or lower eyelids rejuvenates the appearance around the eyes to give a more rested and less tired appearance. It specifically resolves hanging skin on the upper lids, bags under the lower eyelids as well as fine wrinkles of the lower lids. Incisions are placed where scars will not be visible.
Non-Surgical Approach (Injectables & Fillers)
Botox® or Dysport
Made from botulinum toxin type A, these injectables reduce the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily blocking nerve signals from reaching facial muscles. Both may be used on frown lines, crow’s feet, and the fine lines of the forehead. The effects typically last 4 months and are performed in the office with no down time needed.
Restylane® & Perlane®
These two fillers are made of hyaluronic acid gel, which is a substance that occurs naturally in the body. Therefore, patients do not have to worry about having an allergic reaction. Restylane® and Perlane® are most often used to restore volume to facial creases around the mouth and make the lips appear fuller.
Juvederm®
Made of a cross-linked hyaluronic acid, this filler is most effective at adding volume to the cheeks and providing a smoother appearance to the nasolabial folds.
Radiesse®
This filler is composed of calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres that are suspended in a water-based gel. As the gel naturally dilutes into the body, Radiesse® provides immediate volume to areas of the face and helps the body to produce collagen.
All of these non-surgical approaches have results that are not permanent as future injections will be necessary to continue improvement.
