Browlift vs. Blepharoplasty – Which is Best for Sagging Eyelids?
Posted July 5, 2013 in Brow Lift, UncategorizedAppearing tired and worn out is a look that no one enjoys. Unfortunately, as the skin around the eyes ages, it develops wrinkles and tends to sag. Oftentimes, patients undergo cosmetic procedures such as a browlift or blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to improve their facial appearance. Although both of these treatments address the upper part of the face, each procedure addresses slightly different areas for facial rejuvenation. It is not unusual for a person to seek plastic surgery for droopy upper eyelids, but some patients actually have drooping brows that add excess skin to the upper lids.
Browlift
Also known as a forehead lift, this type of surgery focuses on smoothing out the forehead while elevating the tissue above the eyes. It is usually performed on patients who want to eliminate wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyes while repositioning the brows to a more youthful position.
Even though a browlift addresses the upper region of the eyebrows, it does little to improve the appearance of the eyelids themselves. If an individual wants to improve the appearance of sagging eyelids, blepharoplasty is the best option.
Blepharoplasty
A blepharoplasty procedure improves the eye area by removing excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids. Through this procedure, puffiness underneath the eyes is reduced and a well-rested look is restored to the upper eyelids.
At my Arizona practice, patients often decide to have a browlift performed at the same time as a blepharoplasty procedure in order to achieve total rejuvenation in the upper face.
